About Us
The Utah Salt Flats Racing Association (USFRA) proudly hosts land speed racing events on the famous Bonneville Salt Flats, continuing a tradition that dates back to the early 1900s. Founded in 1976, the USFRA's mission is “to preserve the Bonneville Salt Flats and to promote the use of this historic place for motor sports for all future generations.”
The USFRA's premier event, World of Speed, attracts racers and spectators from around the globe each September. This unique event provides competitors the opportunity to test their vehicles against the clock on a pristine salt surface, pursuing official land-speed class records or entry into the 130 MPH and 150 MPH clubs.
Unlike commercialized motorsports, the USFRA represents racing in its purest form—organized by racers, for racers. There are no grandstands or corporate suites; spectators walk freely through the pits, interacting with drivers and crews while witnessing everything from vintage roadsters to cutting-edge streamliners.
The association also actively supports conservation efforts through partnerships with organizations like Save the Salt, working to ensure this natural wonder remains intact for future generations to experience the thrill of racing.
