Spectators are always welcome at U.S.F.R.A. events. Spectator admission to World of Speed is $10.00 per day including pit access, or $20.00 for the entire event including pit pass.

All racing class entry fees can be found at the bottom of the World of Speed Entry Form.
All karts run as a part of the USFRA's 130 MPH Club Class.

Go Kart Racing at Bonneville Salt Flats!
The Utah Salt Flats Racing Association is pleased to announce that Go Karts will be allowed to run at our -World of Speed- Landspeed Racing event on the Famed Bonneville Salt Flats. This marks the first time that Kart Racers from all racing organizations will have an opportunity to run for top speed on the precision timed mile course at Bonneville.

U.S.F.R.A. Bonneville Kart Rules

ALL DRIVERS must: be members of USFRA, present a valid State Drivers license, or show a current valid competition license from a recognized Kart Racing Organization, NHRA, SCCA, WKA,IKF, SKUSA)and sign a loss damage waiver to participate. (Requests for exception to these requirments will be considered on a case by case basis.)
Anyone under 21 years of age must have a notarized consent from Parent or Guardian.
A maximum of five (5) runs will be allowed per 130 MPH Club entry fee paid.
An initial "licensing" pass at no more than 100 mph will be required to calibrate on board speed gauge equipment. i.e.; tachometer, speedometer, etc.
Pits Speed Limit is 10 MPH any driver exceeding this limit in the pits or staging lanes will be disqualified.
Karts that can excede 50 MPH on the .5 mile "Short Course" will be allowed to run the 1 mile "130 MPH Course".
MAXIMUM SPEED: will be 140 mph - any vehicle exceeding 140 mph will be disqualified from making anymore passes and will not receive a timing slip.
An adequate chainguard is required on all chain drives.
Only gasoline, diesel, electric, fuels may be used - NO nitrous, alcohol or nitro-fueled vehicles will be allowed.
HEADGEAR: Full coverage (full-face) helmets designed for competitive motorsports use complying at minimum with Snell Foundation 2000 or newer specifications with a full face shield are mandatory. Helmet must be in good condition and is subject to pre-tech inspection. Helmet must be properly secured with a strap. Failure to properly secure helmet may result in disqualification.
EYE PROTECTION: Eye protection is mandatory, a full visor (clear view) integral with helmet is required.
NECK BRACES: Collar-type, unaltered neck braces designed for motorsports use is mandatory in all classes EXCEPT Enduro lay-down karts.
DRIVER APPAREL: Drivers are required to wear jackets of leather, vinyl or abrasion resistant nylon or equivalent and full-length pants to prevent or minimize abrasions. Closed shoes, socks and gloves are mandatory. NOTE: If hair extends appreciably from beneath helmet level It is MANDATORY that participant wear "balaclava" or head-sock to keep hair from extending outside helmet. Also, no apparel items such as bandanas, sweater hoods, loose belts, etc., will be permitted. Flak jackets highly recommended all divisions.
PRE-TECH: All driver personal safety equipment is subject to pre-race tech inspection, and is subject to reinspection at any time. Fees will not be charged for an inspection.
EQUIPMENT INSPECTION: Inspection will verify the acceptable condition of the engine, drive train, wheels, tires, fuel, steering, braking, and safety systems to an approved checklist.
FIRE EXTINGUISHERS: Each entry at sanctioned events must have a minimum of one operable, 5 Ib. minimum, dry powder or chemical fire extinguisher within their possession.
A GROUND COVER must be used under the vehicle in the pit area. Waste fluids will not be "dumped" they will be taken off the salt for disposal. Pit areas and general Salt will be kept neat and clean at all times.
Decisions of the inspector are final in the areas of safety assessment and requirements.

What is a "Go Kart"?

What Karts are eligible to race under the Kart racing rules of the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association, 130 MPH Club Rules.
This class is intended for Karts that generally meet the requirements for competition classes in the World Karting Association (WKA). Exceptions to these general specifications are considered on a case by case basis, with safety being the USFRA's primary concern.

Allowed Specifications include

Maximum WheelBase measured from front axle centerline to rear axle centerline 50"
Minimum tread width from outside of in tire to inside of opposite tire 28"
Maximum overall width 60" including side pods.
Overall maximum length 76"
Overall height maximum 26"
Suspension Components: Use of suspension components including springs, shocks, etc is prohibited.
Decisions of the inspector are final in the areas of safety assessment and requirements.

What is not a "Go Kart"

Riding lawn mowers are specifically not permitted.
Tube chassis vehicles intended for other forms of off road recreation or competition such as, sandrails, dunebuggies, ATV’s, ATC,s, etc are not permitted.
No thrust-powered vehicles are allowed, No Jets, Rockets, Propellers, or other thrust propulsion devices are permitted.
